When I first landed in Las Vegas for the 2016 NAB Show, I had no idea how I was going to connect with nine other people from around the country to eventually create an hour-and-a-half long webcast. Then my phone rang while I was walking through the terminal. I was hesitant to answer because it was a number I did not recognize. When I picked up, it was JaMarjay Tooke, one of my colleagues from the Technology Apprenticeship Program (TAP), and he said his flight had just landed and he was at the airport. I could hear him talking on the phone and someone saying the same thing out loud behind me. I turned around and JaMarjay was right there. From there, we would become great friends, travel to Florida together, and alongside my other great TAP participants, make a webcast on multi-platform content.

Since April, we have been working on a webcast that will discuss the history, impact and future of multi-platform content. We have traveled to different parts of the country to gain knowledge about this emerging method of consuming media and how it will affect the industry.  The webcast will showcase all ten participants and give viewers a fresh look at multi-platform content. Our goal is to educate and show the industry the young new talent ready to ask fresh questions and strive for greatness in the future.

To better understand multi-platform content and gain more experience in the media industry, all ten of us were placed at different radio and television stations and studios around the country. At our respective placements, we conducted interviews, got to know to know our coworkers and received a lot of hands-on technical training in the media industry.

JaMarjay and I were in the Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg and Clearwater area of Florida. I worked at Cox Media Group Tampa Bay under Dylan Scott, chief engineer, and JaMarjay worked at ION Media Networks under Denise L. Taylor, senior director of Content Technology and Support.
