We’re excited to announce that NAB Labs has joined 1776 as a corporate partner. 1776 is an incubator for startups with two campuses: one in DC and another in Crystal City. Over the past two years, they’ve helped nurture over 250 companies including aquicore, a startup that provides real time energy data for commercial real estate, and CancerIQ, a data analytics group that strives to close the gaps in cancer care. They currently have 330 startup companies participating in their program.

At NAB Labs we’re always looking to the future, and 1776 provides us with the opportunity to regularly engage and network with startups that focus on areas important to local communities and media. Our goal through this engagement is to provide NAB members with invaluable information on the latest technology trends including cybersecurity, virtual reality and drones.

1776 is also focused on building smart cities, and we believe a strong local media has a major role to play in these projects. Through this engagement, NAB Labs will be at the cutting edge of these new innovations.

1776 is more than just an incubator, though. They regularly bring in high-profile people for engaging conversations about the importance of innovation. President Barack Obama, Prime Minister David Cameron and FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler, are among the many to have spoken at 1776 events. They also host the Challenge Cup, a global competition for startups that encourages people to develop big solutions for major problems.
