PILOT Launches New NEXTGEN TV Fellowship, Introduces 2021 Fellows

PILOT has launched the PILOT NEXTGEN TV Fellowship program with support from Amazon Web Services (AWS). The fellowship will focus on exploring capabilities of the ATSC 3.0 broadcast standard and developing a concept for a NEXTGEN TV product or service. The fellowship will conclude with fellows presenting their projects at the 2022 NAB Show in April in Las Vegas. The 2021-2022 fellows are current Howard University students Mikaela Mosley and Sulaiman Bastien.

PILOT Announces Winners of the 2021 Innovation Challenge

PILOT has announced two winners of the 2021 PILOT Innovation Challenge. Winners will receive relevant mentorship, feedback, travel support and exhibit space at the 2021 NAB Show, held October 9-13 in Las Vegas. This year's winners are "BeamOn" from Beam Dynamics and "Reinventing Local TV News: Prioritizing Animation and Graphics" from Northeastern University.

NAB Announces Winners of 2021 Technology Awards

The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) revealed the 2021 winners of the NAB Engineering Achievement Awards for Radio and Television, the Service to Broadcast Engineering Award, and the Digital Leadership Award. The winners were announced and celebrated during a special event hosted exclusively on NAB Amplify on June 17.

PILOT Opening Application Window for 2021 Innovation Challenge

PILOT will be accepting submissions for the PILOT Innovation Challenge through 5 p.m. ET on July 9. The program will provide mentorship and promotion to winning proposals, along with an opportunity to demonstrate their products at NAB Show in Las Vegas, October 9-13, 2021.

NAB to Present Engineering Achievement and Digital Leadership Awards at NAB Amplify Event

The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) will host a special event June 17th at 2 p.m. EDT on NAB Amplify to announce and celebrate the 2021 recipients of the NAB Engineering Achievement Awards and Digital Leadership Award.The special session titled “The Future of Media and NAB Technology Awards” kicks off with a keynote conversation with Mike Chapman, a partner and Americas Media Lead at Kearney, a management consulting firm specializing in corporate and growth strategy and business transformation. Chapman will discuss the future of media, including trends to watch, with Sam Matheny, executive vice president and chief technology officer of NAB.
