Bonneville’s KSL Newsradio in Salt Lake City has defied the longstanding definition of traditional news radio by expanding into video. KSL broadcasts “radio you can see” live from its studio, which is equipped with five cameras, from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. The effort reaps a total of 55 different podcasts, available in either video or audio, distributed over the breadth of platforms – online, on mobile and over-the-top through devices including Apple TV and Roku. The sales-driven video programming, with opportunities for video display advertising, enables advertisers a new means of reaching consumers.

Producing video enables KSL Newsradio and its advertisers to reach consumers via traditional and digital platforms, leading to triple-digit growth in the number of podcast downloads.

The initiative provides audiences the choice of consuming KSL Newsradio via traditional radio or over-the-top video.
