NextRadio has introduced streaming functionality to its app that combines internet functionality with over-the-air radio.
Why is it important?
By providing a streaming service alongside OTA radio, NextRadio is giving Apple users access to local radio they may otherwise have been unable to get. The streaming service allows NextRadio’s users to access out of market stations, and browse stations by the music currently playing. NextRadio remains committed to unlocking FM chips in all phones saying on their website, “We developed a streaming version until this goal becomes a reality.”
