New Study Details Impact of Third-Party Data Phase-Out on Local Broadcasting
The broadcast television and radio industry would lose $2.1 billion in digital advertising revenue annually, representing 6.3% of the industry’s total advertising revenue, if third-party cookies were eliminated today with no privacy-preserving alternatives, according to a new study released by Borrell Associates. Jim Brown, President at Borrell Associates, presented the study, commissioned the National Association of Broadcasters' (NAB) innovation wing PILOT, at NAB Show New York.
NAB Show Announces Call for Proposals for 2023 BEIT Conference
Proposals for technical papers and panel sessions are now being accepted for the NAB Show Broadcast Engineering and IT (BEIT) Conference, taking place April 15-19, 2023 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Selected papers will be presented during the program and included in the official "Proceedings of the 2023 Broadcast Engineering and IT Conference."
AWARN Kicks off Regional Roundtables to “Reboot” the TV Broadcaster-Public Safety Relationship with ATSC 3.0
With its local broadcasting partners, the AWARN Alliance is convening a series of roundtable discussions between local TV stations and local emergency managers – the people who issue emergency alerts. The goal is to lay the groundwork for the voluntary use of NEXTGEN TV Advanced Emergency Information (AEI) and “reboot” the historic relationship between broadcasting and public safety.
Ultra HD and Over The Top (OTT)
NAB is a charter member of the Ultra HD Forum, an organization devoted to aiding the creation and distribution of Ultra HD content. NAB CTO Sam Matheny believes that Ultra HD is really about better storytelling and bringing the state of the art in terms of picture and sound quality. While NAB's participation has much to do with broadcast over the air (OTA) delivery of Ultra HD content, our members are also delivering content via cable, satellite and over the top (OTT).
