The NAB Broadcast Engineering and IT (BEIT) Conference blasts off with a keynote session that’s literally out of this world! Conference attendees will engage in a live 4K UHD conversation with NASA astronauts aboard the International Space Station, showcasing new live UHD switching and routing capability at the agency’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.

This keynote will explore the evolution of global broadcasting, from the grainy 1969 Moon landing to the upcoming Artemis III mission, expected to be the largest live-streamed event in history. This session will examine the challenges and innovations that will define the future of broadcast technology, content distribution and media consumption on April 5 at 9:30 a.m.

The opening session also includes the presentation of the Best Paper Award and the Best Student Paper Award (co-sponsored with IEEE BTS) honoring the author(s) of the best scientific paper and student paper published in the 2025 NAB Broadcast Engineering and IT Conference Proceedings.

BPS Project Update, Leader-Follower Deployment, and eLoran Demo

PS has been deployed at WHUT in Washington, DC and in KWGN at Boulder, Colorado. BPS is also being deployed at WNUV at Baltimore, Maryland. NAB has been working with NIST, DOT, and DHS on BPS testing and deployment. With collaboration with ATSC 3.0 equipment vendors, NAB is also in the process of developing BPS network operations center (NOC) software and a new BPS receiver. This presentation will be a progress report and current development status of BPS in the following areas: (1) installation and system calibration; (2) deployment status; (3) time delivery performance of the deployed systems; (4) new receiver development; and (5) monitoring health of the system with NOC.

National Radio Systems Committee (NRSC) meetings

The National Radio Systems Committee (NRSC) is jointly sponsored by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and the Consumer Technology Association (CTA). Its purpose is to study and make recommendations for technical standards that relate to radio broadcasting and the reception of radio broadcast signals.  Three NRSC Subcommittees will hold meetings: AM and FM Analog Broadcasting (AFAB), Data Services and Metadata (DSM), and Digital Radio Broadcasting (DRB).


IEEE BTS: SRT Backup, A Proposal for the Improvement of C-band Satellite Link Availability
