In a Public Notice released June 11, 2021 the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) formally announced that it will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) on August 11, 2021, and that the EAS Test Reporting System (ETRS) is now open for filings. The test will be held at 2:20 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), with a backup date of August 25, 2021, should conditions on the day of the test require the rescheduling of the test.
The Public Notice also announces that ETRS is now available to accept 2021 filings. In accordance with Section 11.61 of the FCC’s rules, EAS Participants must renew their identifying information required by ETRS Form One on or before July 6, 2021. On or before August 12, 2021, EAS Participants must file “day of test” information on Form Two and the detailed post-test data, Form Three, is due on or before September 27, 2021. Forms Two and Three will become available in the ETRS at the time of the 2021 nationwide test.
